BASIC Development Foundation Inaugurates Independent Living Center for Persons with Disabilities in Rural Hyderabad, Sindh


On February 14, 2026, the BASIC Development Foundation (BDF) marked a significant milestone today with the inauguration of its Independent Learning Center (ILC) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Khamiso Shoro/Laung Patel village, Union Council 85 Hoosri, Hyderabad district. The event drew over 450 male and female community members from diverse backgrounds and locations, all united in their commitment to uplifting this often-neglected segment of society.


The Center inaugurated by Mr.Kheeal Das Kohistani ,State Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony

The ILC was officially inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Kheal Das Kohistani, State Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. In his concluding remarks, Mr. Kheal Das Kohistani commended BDF's initiative, stating, "This center represents a beacon of hope for PWDs in rural areas. I assure full support from my ministry and the federal government to further elevate this commendable effort, ensuring inclusive development for all.".


Welcome Words

BDF Chairman Mr. Altaf Mahesar welcomed the guests and participants, outlining the center's objectives, purpose, and eligibility criteria. He highlighted BDF's extensive experience in community development and its deep-rooted connections with rural populations across Sindh. "Our mission has always been to empower underprivileged segments through sustainable interventions," Mr. Mahesar said. "This ILC will provide PWDs with essential skills, fostering independence and integration into mainstream society.".

During the event, PWDs and other selected speakers emphasized the vital role of persons with disabilities in community progress and praised BDF's pioneering step in establishing the center in a rural setting. Their testimonials underscored the need for such facilities to address barriers faced by PWDs, including limited access to education, vocational training, and social inclusion.


Interactive Session

The inauguration event featured interactive sessions, where attendees discussed strategies to support PWDs, reinforcing BDF's vision of building an advanced society through integrated community efforts. Participants from various walks of life pledged their ongoing involvement in advocating for disability rights and inclusive development.
